It’s a little difficult to review an item which as a safety bit of kit should realistically only be used once and then replaced. However, I have gone and cut through various bits of my poor rope as practice and to ensure these safety scissors do the job.
All my current rope is from lovehoney itself, and they don’t seem to stock anything too thick or heavy, these shears require a small amount of effort to cut with a single firm press. I imagine it will require a bit more force on heavy duty rope, like hemp or jute. It’s worth a practice run safely beforehand.
I tried the shears in both hands (I am right handed) and didn’t notice any issues with the off hand usage. They are however stiff to open, which is likely why they are good at cutting!
They come in a discreet mostly matte black, however in retrospect being a safety item I would like fluorescent yellow or similar as an option.
As usual there’s a little bulge on the sharp end to try and enable easy and safe access between skin and the rope or material you’re cutting.
After some practice I feel they will still work with no decrease in performance, but again being a safety device I’ll keep these purely for practice with cutting and get a new pair for when we are playing.

I love the look of these scissors and yes you can use ordinary scissors to cut through tape but these bondage safety scissors and bondage tape are a perfect match.
The scissors easily cut through bondage tape without leaving sticky residue onto the scissors or feeling ‘stuck’ as it cuts through and I feel reassured having these knowing I won’t be injured or snipped in the process. They look simple and smooth and are nice and compact. They are just the right size to cut through the tape, as in not too long and one swift snip you can be out of your submissive state to dominate or into your next submissive position. You choose!!
I highly recommend these. I personally much prefer having them as part of my bondage kit as they work seamlessly with the lovehoney bondage tape- we have the pink tape and also no more rummaging around for normal scissors if you need to get out in a hurry. Just keep a pair of these in your bondage box.

It’s taken me a while to get round to reviewing these as I wanted an opportunity to use them within an appropriate setting.
I was interested in rope play and this weekend I finally got to try some. These are easy to hold and are pretty light and they sliced through my rope with ease and no dramas! For the price tag, they really are a good item. There’s not too much to say about these, but I’m really happy with them.
If you’re into a little bondage these are definitely an essential item to keep in your kit.

Any rigger or rope bunny, whether experienced or noob, will know how long it takes to untie someone at the end of a session.
In an emergency, you don’t have the luxury of time and that’s why it’s so important to have a pair of these safety scissors in your kit.
We have a pair of paramedic issue safety scissors but I was looking for a pair that looked less medical in nature and these pure black ones looked perfect.
They’re not as heavy duty as the ones we already own, obviously, but they’re good quality and easily cut through our heavy cotton shibari rope (much, much thicker than the Lovehoney one) and I’m satisfied that I’d be quickly freed if I needed to be for any reason.
It may take a little more time and effort to cut through hemp, but at the price it’s worth a try.

So far, I’ve used them once to cut a length of red rope from Lovehoney into two lengths of rope. It was surprisingly easy to do. I can see that these scissors will be useful if I find myself in a rope-related emergency.
